Ode to the Die Hard Krystal Lovers of Salem, VA

Our newest Krystal opened on Monday to crowds galore itchin' to get their hands on those little square burgers. Now for all of you newbies out there who have never been to a grand opening and have never read this blog (shame on you ,by the way) Krystal really goes all out for our Grand Openings. Besides calling all Krystal Lovers to submit their stories, there is also a competition of sorts that ensues. The first 12 Krystal Lovers lined up before 10 a.m. on the day of the Store opening get a free sackful every week for a YEAR.....I kid you not. The first 75 people lined up will win free Krystal combos and prizes.

Well Salem, VA really showed who was boss. This past Monday with winds of up to 20 mph and temps at 20 degrees there were already a line of people from the previous morning who toughed out the nasty weather.....Were talking tents and the whole nine yards....Here are some great pictures of the Grand Opening.....

The Year of the Krystal Lover

One of the exciting things Krystal is doing this year is finding more ways to showcase our Krystal Lovers. Most Krystal Lovers submit their stories to us in hopes of being in our TV Commercials (yes those are real stories from real Krystal Lovers) and to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Welcome to 2007, Krystal Lovers.

This year when our Krystal Lovers sign up to be in the Krystal Lover Community (www.krystal.com - then click on the Krystal Lovers Logo) their stories and pictures will be considered to be featured on: our new murals (see example above) that we will begin to put in our stores, in-store packaging (see cups and steamer packs for reference), be featured in our virtual community (go to www.krystal.com), as a web host/hostess and have a chance to have you and your Krystal Lover story featured on a billboard in your home town.

The options are endless....

So if you haven't already, go to our website and sign-up to be in the Krystal Lover Community. Don't forget to submit pictures. And at the risk of sounding like a nag - don't send blurry pictures that are from far away. The better the pictures the better your chance of being selected.

Salem, VA Come on Down!

Its our first Grand Opening of the year. Krystal will be expanding to Salem, VA when it has its opening on January 29th. Yes my friends that's in one week. To increase excitement (not that we really need to INCREASE it but you get my meaning) we always let the community know that we are coming by doing some local PR. We ask Salemites to tell us their Krystal story in exchange for a cool shirt they can wear at the Grand Opening. Since I am over the website I decided to mix it up a little and have our virtual world be the way that people submit their story. You can see our newest addition holding up a sign. But then you would also see that we have another opening shortly thereafter in......FORT WORTH! Wow are we taking over the neighborhood or what? Anyways, back to my original thought (and on a Monday morning its amazing that I can remember what that original thought was)

When we ask for Krystal Lovers to send their stories we get tons of stories that come in all shapes and sizes. But I loved the one I got over the weekend by Eric Harris. Who actually sent us pictures from a home movie of the Judds eating at Krystal after a Murfeesboro Concert on their Farewell Tour. See for yourself...... I guess you can add that to the list of Celebrities showin' love for Krystal.

Krystal New Years Resolution

We all know that New Year's resolutions are made to be broken - that is, unless, you're smart like us. See, we only promise to do more of the things we like in the New Year such as: 1) eating Krystal Scramblers twice a week instead of only once, 2) trying each new Krystal product on the day it is first offered, 3) helping others by introducing one friend to Krystal each week and 4) serving as a Krystal mentor to aforementioned friends by educating them about proper Krystal ordering technique (for example, explaining that you can't just order "A Krystal Hamburger" instead you order "Three, Four, Five or Six Krystals" - you get the idea).

So, were you smart like us and made only resolutions you can't wait to keep? KH-60 is Krystal Heaven

Its the Krystal of the future! And let me tell you, its AWESOME..... Its a new project Krystal has been working on - located on Brainerd Rd in Chattanooga. After the holidays the Company had a grand opening party for all the Corporate employees. Not only is this Krystal state of the art (Flatscreen TV's, Cool Krystal Lover Murals and a Digital jukebox where you can play any songs you want) its also a drive in! Even the menu board is digital. (Which is why I guess the IT guys have had these "Please God make it all go away" looks on their faces for about three weeks.

Speaking of the menuboard, there are also some new menu items.....Philly Cheese Toaster Sandwich, Grilled Cheese & Bacon Toaster Sandwiches, Chicken Wings, Macaroni & Cheese bites, Milkquakes & Rockslides (Desserts you will LOVE) and lets not forget our newest Combo which is in all of our Krystal Restaurants....Its called the: EXTREME CHEESE COMBO. This combo is not for the faint of heart but I can say that I HAVE TRIED IT.(I also paid for it dearly with an extra day on the treadmill. Its 5 cheese Krystals, Chili Cheese Fries and a Medium Soft Drink (I strongly recommend Diet).

The above picture (I try to refrain from pictures of myself) is me at the Grand Opening. As you can see you couldn't pry my fingers from the Strawberry Milkquake. Not even if you tried.

Happy Birthday Crystal Gayle!

A big Krystal Lover, "Happy Birthday" to Crystal Gayle who turns 56 today. Now many of you already know that her older sister is Loretta Lynn but did you know that it was her sister who gave her the nickname "Crystal" (She was born Brenda Gail Webb) because of her love of Krystal Hamburgers. I kid you not! Just another reason for Krystal Lovers to celebrate!

Krystal's Saucy Chiks are Sweeping the South

One bad thing about working at Krystal is you somtimes have a chance to try new items they are testing. Now you might say "Why is that a bad thing?" Be patient, I'm about to tell you....The thing is once you try something that you LOVE, there is no gurantee it will even be tested let alone be put on the menu....And once it IS tested you don't know when it might be put on the menu?!?! Do you feel my pain yet? Here is an example:

Ever since I was lucky enough to try these new little sandwiches - A WHILE AGO, (See above) I've been frantically awaiting their arrival. Ladies and Gentlemen they are FINALLY here. The Saucy Chiks are a take on our normal little Chik sandwiches with a new twist - they can be dipped in Barbecue, Buffalo or Honey Mustard Sauce. And may I say I will be eating them like crazy until the promotion is over....While you can get them in their new combo (with any combination you like) you can also get them a la carte and you can also "Sauce" any chik in your Mix N Match combo.

It really does bring a tear to the eye......
