Beastie Boys & Krystal

The Beastie Boys are pretty popular here at Krystal World Headquarters. Apparently, Krystal is pretty popular with the Beastie Boys as well.

The Beastie Boys did an interview with Atlanta radio station 99X on Tuesday. The first caller asked them a very important question. Since the Beastie Boys are known White Castle fans, the caller asked if they eat Krystals when they are in the South. They said that they’ve had them, and of course they said they like them. (If they had said anything else, I wouldn’t be writing this post would I?) You can check out the interview here.

Since the Beastie Boys gave Krystal a plug on 99X, I’ll give them a plug here. The interview they were doing was to push their new DVD “Awesome; I… Shot That.” I haven’t seen the DVD, but it’s a cool concept. They gave 50 fans video cameras to shoot a New York City concert. The footage was then edited together. And then in true Beastie fashion they returned all of the cameras to the stores where they bought them.

Having real people shoot your concert footage... that's almost like having real people star in your TV commercials. I wonder where the Beastie Boys got that idea.

Ok I would be remiss in not letting everyone in the world know that the newest section of the Krystal Website is now up and running. This has been a project that has been a long time in coming for me. (Tiffany) It started out as the Krystal Hall of Fame. Krystal Lovers could submit their story to be considered for being inducted into the Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame. However, during this time we saw that there are TONS of Krystal Lovers out there who just want to tell their many Krystal Lovers stories. Which is why we have added the Krystal Lover VIP section. Krystal Lovers can come to www.krystal.com and enter the VIP lounge. You can do this by using a guest pass which will offer limited access or by signing up to be a VIP member (takes a few seconds) Once this happens you can participate in Krystal polls, download AIM's, Computer Wallpapers, Screensavers, Chat with other Krystal Lovers and view the new Hall of Fame section. You can also access the Krystal Square Off and see its new recent design change as well. A great shout out to my web designers at the SuperGroup. Joey Chesnut Shatters 2 minute Record at the Krystal Press Conference

  The Krystal Square Off World Hamburger Eating Championship is back for its third year, and big things are happening. The marketing department held a press conference this morning on the footsteps of the Krystal Building to announce some exciting news:

The Square Off will kick off in Chattanooga on August 24 and will end back here with the World Championship on October 28.

The 2006 Krystal Square Off Championship will be broadcast live on ESPN2

On top of all the exciting news, Joey Chestnut, one of the world's top eaters, attempted to break the two-minute Krystal eating record of 21 Krystals. Chestnut shattered the record by putting away 28 Krystals to the delight of the gathered crowd. New Krystal Square Off Site

Our new Krystal Square Off Site is up and running! Until Krystal has its Press Conference on Tuesday, July 18th to announce the dates for the upcoming Qualifying tour the site will only have some basic information. So check back for some great new additions to the site.

The Krystal Balloon Is Back!

Stop the presses! The Krystal hot-air balloon that was stolen sometime between July 1 - 4th has been returned by a hungry customer. Chelsea Hutto, a student at the University of North Texas, found out who took it and returned it to claim the reward of a free sackful of Krystal burgers every week for a year. Her anonymous "friends" who took the hot-air balloon claimed they pulled the stunt to "stick it to the man." Looks like Chelsea was "stickin it" to her friends in order to get some free Krystals. (Smart girl) However, their cover was not blown as she held the Krystal Franchisee owner, David Friedman, to his promise of no questions asked if the balloon was returned. The balloon will now be placed on the roof to preclude any future kidnappings.

For all Krystal Lovers who like finding easter eggs on DVD's and websites this one's for you! If you go to the Krystal website look for a hidden bunny that is located in a couple of places on the website. If you find it and click on it you will see a special Krystal Commercial that is Web only.

How to Receive a Krystal Reward

The details for information leading to the whereabouts of the Krystal Hot Air Balloon came out this morning in the Dallas Morning News. The 8-foot promotional balloon worth approximately $2,000 was stolen from a Krystal location in the 1700 block of South Loop 288 some time over the weekend.

The franchise owner notified police but did not file a report. There would be “no questions asked” if the balloon were returned unharmed, he said. Anyone with information should call 940-484-5566.

Missing Krystal Balloon!!!

As many of you know, Krystal had a recent new store opening in Denton, TX. (See previous post) However, the Hot Air Balloon that was there to announce the grand opening has mysteriously disappeared. The Krystal franchisee is offering a reward for anyone who knows the whereabouts of the Krystal Hot Air balloon. Seems someone may have stolen the balloon AND used it for their getaway! Orange Creme Icee on a Hot Summer Day

Happy early July 4th to those who don't have to work today! We coordinators are indeed working. However, my husband showed up today to take me to lunch and I had to take a picture of his chosen attire. And of course we chose to eat at Krystal. I can see that everyone took my recent suggestion on trying the Orange Cream Icee. In fact I was hard pressed to find anyone who didn't have an icee. So after I finished my meal I decided to buy one myself. Now you ask what is the perfect situation for buying an icee? Well, for watching Wimbledon, World Cup Soccer, the Space Shuttle launch, baseball, going to the beach etc.....OR if you have to work, like me, an icee can make it feel like a small vacation in your cubicle. (very small)
